As the new year approaches, you may be thinking about making changes and refreshing some areas of your home. Today, at
Behind Pictures, we want to share
our favorite kitchen trends. Start 2022 by upgrading your kitchen with
our must-have kitchen trends to ensure your renovation is a complete success.
Space: open-plan and multifunctional, our #1 kitchen trend
We begin this guide with one of the biggest trends of the past year:
the multifunctional open-plan concept. By opening the kitchen to the living and dining areas, you create a larger space and
a more social environment, allowing you to interact with family or guests while preparing meals. Additionally, this layout
enhances the multifunctionality of the space, turning it into an area where you can also eat, work, or watch TV.
Materials: natural and sustainable finishes
As we’ve seen in other articles about
2021 decor trends,
kitchen trends are strongly inspired by nature. For this reason,
the most popular materials this year are natural, and often sustainable and eco-friendly: marble, terrazzo, wood, and natural fibers.
Clean, low-maintenance countertops—one of our favorite kitchen trends
Unlike previous seasons, one of our top kitchen trends this year is
melamine, porcelain, or quartz countertops, which have been gaining popularity for some time. These materials are stylish, elegant, and easy to maintain. They are also becoming thinner—down to just 2 cm.
Light tones with natural veining are especially on trend.
A minimalist look with traditional touches
Minimalism is another kitchen trend we love, and it’s also dominating other areas of home design. The key is to
eliminate unnecessary elements and focus on natural materials, while incorporating technology to enhance the design. A great example is
integrated extractor hoods that blend seamlessly into the space. Interestingly, a more traditional style—with a subtle English influence—is also making a comeback.
It’s a great option if your home leans toward a more classic aesthetic.
Discover why gray is the trending color in kitchens
At the beginning of the year, we mentioned that gray was one of the colors chosen as
Pantone Color of the Year. It’s no surprise, then, that it has become
one of the most popular colors in kitchen design. As our relationship with the kitchen evolves, so should the color palette. Gray is an excellent choice, bringing elegance while helping create a
minimalist, timeless kitchen with plenty of style. Are you ready to go all-in on gray for your kitchen?
Storage and open shelving
Storage is a key aspect of any home renovation. A well-organized space helps you relax and stay focused. That’s why
one of the most important kitchen trends today focuses on smart storage solutions. In line with minimalism, tall cabinets that extend to the ceiling are becoming increasingly popular, creating a more cohesive look. By choosing
taller cabinets that maximize every corner and
deeper drawers, you can also hide appliances and maintain order more easily. A place for everything, and everything in its place!
